About the ADJ HEX686 18P Hex LED Fixture

The ADJ HEX686 18P Hex is a compact and uniquely shaped LED effect fixture designed primarily for eye-catching pixel-based graphic displays and high-impact audience blinding effects. Its defining characteristic is its hexagonal ("Hex") housing, which holds 18 individually addressable, high-output RGBW LED "pucks" or pixel nodes arranged in a geometric pattern. This design allows it to function as a multi-faceted, pixel-mappable display panel that can show animated chases, text, simple logos, and complex patterns, moving far beyond the capabilities of a standard par or wash light. When not used for graphics, all 18 pixels can synchronize to act as an intense RGBW color wash or a powerful blinder/strobe effect.

The fixture leverages individual pixel control, making it compatible with advanced pixel-mapping software and hardware controllers (such as those from MADRIX or using DMX pixel mappers). Each of the 18 pixels contains red, green, blue, and white LEDs, enabling a full spectrum of colors and high-quality white light from each point. This allows for smooth color gradients across the fixture and vibrant, dynamic displays. It offers multiple DMX channel modes, ranging from a simple 7-channel mode (controlling all pixels as one uniform fixture) up to a full 220-channel mode that provides complete individual control over each RGBW component of all 18 pixels, unlocking its full creative potential.

Built with a rugged housing suitable for touring and installation, the HEX686 is designed for versatility. It can be used as a standalone effect piece, clustered in groups to form larger video walls or organic shapes, or deployed as a modern, intelligent alternative to traditional blinders. Its hexagonal shape makes it ideal for creating honeycomb-style video arrays or for adding a geometric visual element to stage designs in clubs, concerts, festivals, and theatrical productions.
