Roland VC-1-SC Up/Down/Cross Scan Converter w/ PSU

$1,189.99

The VC-1-SC Up/Down/Cross Scan Converter from Roland provides high picture quality by maintaining the video characteristics of the original signal with rich-blacks and super-whites. There are no interlacing artifacts or other conversion or signal errors that are sometimes found with other video converters. The VC-1-SC also features an onboard re-clocker to compensate for attenuation of SDI signals carried over long distances. The VC-1-SC also supports both level A and B 3G-SDI, thereby enabling you to connect a variety of high quality SDI sources.

Roland’s new video converters address the demand for high-quality, lossless video and audio converters for live/post production as well as installed systems. They include the Roland VC-1-HS (HDMI to SDI), VC-1-SH (SDI to HDMI), VC-1-DL (Bi-directional SDI/HDMI with audio/video delay and frame sync) and VC-1-SC (Up/Down/Cross Scan converterto/from SDI/HDMI).

About the Roland VC-1-SC Up/Down/Cross Scan Converter w/ PSU

The Roland VC-1-SC is a specialized professional video processor designed to perform high-quality scan conversion, scaling, and frame synchronization. Its core function is to bridge disparate video formats, taking incoming standard-definition or high-definition signals and converting them to a different output resolution or scan type with minimal latency and maximal image integrity. This is critical in live production environments where sources such as legacy computers, document cameras, or playback devices with non-standard timings must be integrated seamlessly into a modern HD or SD video system. The unit ensures signal stability and compatibility, preventing synchronization issues like flicker, roll, or loss of image.

Engineered for reliability, the VC-1-SC handles a wide range of input signal types, including composite, S-Video, component, and RGB/YPbPr, and outputs them as a clean, broadcast-compatible SDI or analog signal. It offers precise control over the conversion process, featuring both automatic and manual modes for up-conversion, down-conversion, and cross-conversion, allowing a technician to optimize the image geometry, cropping, and filtering for the specific application. Built-in frame synchronization on all inputs eliminates timing mismatches when mixing multiple sources in a switcher, making it an essential tool in broadcast trucks, control rooms, and fixed installation systems where signal harmonization is paramount.

Housed in a compact half-rack metal enclosure, the device is designed for permanent integration into equipment racks. Its straightforward front-panel interface provides immediate status feedback and control, while comprehensive configuration is available via on-screen menus. The inclusion of a dedicated power supply ensures consistent operation. By solving fundamental signal format and timing challenges, the Roland VC-1-SC acts as a crucial interoperability tool, guaranteeing that any video source can be successfully and cleanly incorporated into a professional production workflow.
