About the Shure UA845-SWB Antenna Distribution Amplifier
The Shure UA845-SWB is an active antenna distribution system engineered to support large-scale, multi-channel wireless microphone and in-ear monitoring setups by efficiently distributing a single pair of master antenna signals to up to eight wireless receivers. Its core function is to amplify and split the RF signals captured by two high-gain remote antennas, eliminating the signal degradation and insertion loss that typically occur when multiple receivers are passively connected to the same antenna source. This system is crucial for professional touring, broadcast, and installed sound applications where operating numerous wireless channels in a single frequency band is necessary, as it ensures each receiver has access to a strong, clean, and isolated RF signal, thereby maximizing system reliability and performance.
The amplifier operates on a wideband principle, supporting a broad UHF spectrum that allows it to be used across various frequency bands without retuning, offering significant flexibility for global touring or systems that may be repurposed for different events. It features two independent, ultra-low-noise amplifier channels (one for each antenna in a diversity pair), each with its own gain control and LED level metering, allowing technicians to optimize signal strength and prevent over-amplification. The front panel provides individual DC power switches for each amplifier channel and a master power switch, while the rear panel hosts the antenna inputs and eight sets of BNC output pairs, each with its own DC pass-through to remotely power compatible active antennas, such as the Shure PA805, simplifying system cabling and power management.
By centralizing and optimizing antenna signal distribution, the UA845-SWB solves critical RF infrastructure challenges. It reduces cable runs and the number of remote antennas required, minimizing clutter and potential points of failure. The system's robust metal construction is designed for rack mounting and built to withstand the rigors of road use. For RF coordinators and system engineers, this device is an indispensable tool for building scalable and interference-resistant wireless networks, ensuring that every receiver, regardless of its position in the rack, receives an optimal signal for true diversity operation. This results in greater overall system range, stability, and audio clarity across all wireless channels.
