Professional Audio Amplifiers

An amplifier does one job: take a low-level audio signal and make it loud enough to drive your speakers. But how well it does that job is what separates professional gear from everything else.

AVGear carries new, used, demo, and B-stock professional audio amplifiers from the brands that sound engineers and system designers rely on. Every unit in our Las Vegas warehouse is inspected and tested by our team before it ships.

  • Every amplifier tested and graded before it ships
  • Clear functionality and cosmetic ratings on each unit
  • Decades of pro AV and live sound experience on our team
  • Trusted brands at prices well below retail

How Audio Amplifiers Work

An amplifier receives a line-level audio signal from a mixer, processor, or DSP and increases its power to a level that can drive loudspeakers. The amp's wattage output, impedance handling, and amplifier class (Class D, Class H, Class AB, etc.) all affect performance. Class D amplifiers are lightweight and energy-efficient, making them popular for touring and installed systems. Class H and Class AB designs are known for clean audio quality and have been industry staples for decades. Matching your amplifier's power output to your speakers' wattage and impedance ratings is the most important factor in getting reliable, clean sound.

Have Questions?

What's the difference between a Class D and a Class AB amplifier?

Class D amplifiers use high-frequency switching to deliver power efficiently, resulting in lighter weight, less heat, and lower energy consumption. They're popular in touring and installed sound for their small setup and reliability. Class AB amplifiers use a traditional analog design that many engineers favor for its audio character. Both are used widely in professional applications. The best choice depends on your priorities around weight, heat, rack space, and sound preference.

How do I match an amplifier to my speakers?

Check your speaker's power handling (in watts) and impedance (in ohms). Your amplifier should deliver enough wattage to drive the speaker to full output without clipping, and it needs to be rated for the speaker's impedance load. A general rule: choose an amp that delivers 1.5 to 2 times the speaker's continuous power rating for clean headroom. If you're unsure, contact our team and we'll help you find a good match.

What does 70V/100V output mean on an amplifier?

70V and 100V are constant-voltage distributed audio systems commonly used in commercial installations. Instead of running dedicated amplifier channels to each speaker, a single amp channel drives a line of speakers wired in parallel, each with its own transformer tap. This makes it practical to cover large areas (retail stores, offices, airports, campuses) with fewer amp channels and simpler wiring.

Does AVGear test amplifiers before selling them?

Yes. Every pro amplifier goes through hands-on testing at our Las Vegas facility. We verify power output, check all channels, test inputs and outputs, and inspect for any signs of overheating or component wear.

What brands of amplifiers does AVGear carry?

Our inventory includes amplifiers from L’Acoustics, d&b Audiotechnik, Crown, QSC, Lab Gruppen, Powersoft, Yamaha, Dynacord, Crest Audio, Behringer, and others. Stock changes as new equipment comes in, so check back often or contact us if you're looking for something specific.

Can I sell my amplifiers to AVGear?

Yes. We offer consignment, direct purchase, and auction options. Our team handles valuation, logistics, and remarketing. Head to our Sell Your Gear page to submit your equipment and get started.

Does AVGear ship amplifiers?

Yes. We offer standard shipping nationwide. Most amplifiers ship easily in standard packaging. Contact us if you have questions about shipping for larger or heavier units.
