About the Radio Design Labs DD-BN31 4x4 Mic/Line Dante Interface

The RDL (Radio Design Labs) DD-BN31 is a professional 4x4 microphone/line audio interface designed for seamless integration into Dante digital audio networks. It provides four independent channels of high-quality analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion, allowing for the bidirectional transfer of audio between the analog domain (microphones or line-level devices) and a Dante IP audio network. Each input channel features a combination XLR/TRS connector with switchable phantom power and adjustable gain, making it suitable for connecting microphones, instruments, or line-level sources. Each output channel provides a balanced analog line-level signal via XLR connectors.

A core function of this unit is its adherence to the Dante Audio over IP standard, enabling it to send and receive up to 4 channels of high-resolution, low-latency audio over a standard Ethernet network. This allows for flexible routing and distribution of audio throughout a facility without the traditional limitations of analog cabling. The interface is configured and controlled using Dante Controller software, where audio channels can be patched to any other Dante-enabled device on the network. Its compact, 1RU rackmount design and robust construction make it ideal for permanent installation in broadcast facilities, live sound venues, houses of worship, and corporate AV systems where reliable network audio integration is required.

By bridging the gap between legacy analog equipment and modern networked audio, the RDL DD-BN31 provides a future-proof and scalable solution for expanding system capabilities. It simplifies system design, reduces cable clutter, and enables centralized control and monitoring of audio signals across a networked environment.
