DiGiCo MADI Rack

$0.00

The DiGiCo MQ-Rack packs all the power of the company's larger racks into a compact 6U chassis. Place the MQ-Rack onstage, then run a single Cat 6 cable to your console — that's it! Not only is this a breeze to set up, but it also eliminates the problematic hum and noise that can plague analog systems. This stage box supplies you with 48 microphone inputs and 24 analog outputs, along with AES/EBU. Dual MADI ports allow rack sharing at 48kHz between any two SD-Series or Quantum consoles and provide you with digital splits for recording. Dual redundant power supplies round out the MQ-Rack's outstanding features.

About the DiGiCo MADI Rack

The DiGiCo MADI Rack is a dedicated, rack-mountable audio interface and stagebox system designed to serve as a comprehensive remote I/O solution for DiGiCo digital mixing consoles. Its core function is to act as a high-channel-count bridge between the analog world of microphones and line-level sources on stage and the digital MADI (Multichannel Audio Digital Interface) backbone of the DiGiCo ecosystem. The rack houses a collection of modular input and output cards, typically providing a large number of premium microphone preamplifiers, line inputs, and analog outputs. These analog signals are converted to digital and aggregated into a high-bandwidth, single or dual MADI stream that is transmitted to the mixing console via fiber optic or coaxial cable, allowing for long-distance, noise-immune transmission of dozens to hundreds of audio channels.

A key advantage of the MADI Rack is its modularity and scalability. Users can configure the unit with various card types to meet specific needs, such as cards with 8 or 16 microphone preamps, line I/O, or AES digital I/O. This modularity allows the system to be tailored for applications ranging from a compact 16-input rack for a small tour to a massive 128+ input system for a major broadcast or live production. The microphone preamps are of high quality, designed to deliver the transparent, detailed sound characteristic of the DiGiCo platform. Control of preamp parameters—including gain, phantom power, and high-pass filters—is performed remotely from the console's surface, giving the front-of-house engineer complete control over the stage sound.

Built for the demands of touring, the rack is constructed in a robust 19-inch chassis with redundant power supplies and comprehensive cooling to ensure reliability. It features a clear display for local setup and status monitoring. The use of the MADI standard ensures compatibility not only with DiGiCo consoles but also with a wide range of other professional recording, broadcast, and processing equipment that supports the MADI protocol. The DiGiCo MADI Rack provides a flexible, high-performance, and reliable foundation for building large-scale digital audio networks, making it a cornerstone of many major touring, theatrical, and broadcast sound systems.
