This unit is specifically designed for applications where a modest number of high-quality microphone inputs is needed alongside a substantial number of analog returns, such as for driving multiple monitor wedges, sending feeds to recording devices, or interfacing with installed sound systems. It captures audio from up to eight microphone or line-level sources on stage, converts them to digital, and transmits them along with 16 channels of digital return audio over a single shielded Ethernet cable via the AES50 protocol to the mixing console, effectively replacing bulky analog multicores.

At its core are eight discrete Midas-designed microphone preamplifiers, each accessible via a combo XLR/TRS input jack and featuring remote-controllable gain, phantom power (+48V), and a high-pass filter from the connected console. The unit's standout feature is its 16 balanced XLR analog outputs, which receive audio digitally from the console over the AES50 network. This high-output count makes the DL154 exceptionally useful for monitor engineering, allowing a single box to provide numerous independent mixes to artists on stage. The stage box digitizes and transmits all signals at sample rates up to 96 kHz, ensuring high-fidelity audio capture and playback with minimal latency.

Housed in a robust 1U rack-mount steel chassis built for touring, the DL154 includes dual AES50 ports for daisy-chaining multiple units or creating redundant network loops to enhance system reliability. It can be powered directly through the AES50 connection from a console equipped with a dedicated power supply or locally using an external power adapter.
