About the Luminex Lighting Control Equipment DMX8 MKII Ethernet Node

The Luminex Lighting Control Equipment DMX8 MKII is a professional, compact Ethernet-to-DMX node designed to bridge the gap between modern networked control systems and traditional DMX512 lighting fixtures. It receives streaming DMX data over an Ethernet network using the industry-standard Art-Net or sACN protocols and outputs it as electrical DMX512-A signals on its eight independent output ports. This allows lighting consoles or media servers running on a computer to control fixtures via a standard network infrastructure (CAT5e/6 cable), eliminating the need for long, dedicated DMX cable runs from the control position to the fixtures. The node is particularly valued for its reliability, low latency, and ability to distribute multiple universes of DMX data, with each of its eight outputs independently configurable to transmit a different DMX universe, providing immense flexibility in large or complex lighting systems.

Configuration and management are streamlined through an embedded web interface, allowing technicians to set the device's IP address, map Art-Net/sACN universes to physical outputs, and monitor status from any computer on the same network. The DMX8 MKII is built into a robust, compact metal housing designed for touring and permanent installation. It features status LEDs for network activity, power, and DMX output, and includes redundant power inputs for reliability in mission-critical applications. By leveraging standard Ethernet, it simplifies system design, reduces cable bulk and cost, and enables remote diagnostics and configuration, making it an essential component in modern, networked lighting control architectures for theatres, concerts, broadcast studios, and architectural installations.
