About the Sennheiser e 608 Dynamic Instrument Microphone

The Sennheiser e 608 is a compact, supercardioid dynamic microphone purpose-built for close-miking drum toms and other percussion instruments. Its supercardioid polar pattern provides a tighter, more focused pickup area than a standard cardioid, offering superior isolation from other drums and cymbals on a kit, which is crucial for achieving a clean, punchy drum sound with minimal bleed. The microphone features a frequency response tailored to accentuate the attack and body of tom-toms, capturing the full impact of the drumhead while controlling excessive ring. Its rugged, all-metal construction is built to withstand the high sound pressure levels and physical proximity inherent in drum miking.

A defining feature of the e 608 is its integrated, tool-free mounting system. The microphone includes a specially designed clip that attaches securely to the rim of a drum, allowing for quick, precise, and stable positioning directly over the drumhead without the need for a separate microphone stand or boom arm. This not only saves stage space and setup time but also minimizes the risk of the microphone being bumped out of position during a performance. The low-profile design keeps the microphone discreetly out of the drummer's way.

The Sennheiser e 608 is a staple in backline kits and live sound environments worldwide. It delivers reliable, great-sounding results with unparalleled setup convenience, making it a go-to choice for sound engineers and drummers seeking a dedicated, no-fuss solution for miking toms.
