EAW CA120 Power Amplifier

$50.00

The EAW CA120 is an ultra-compact stereo micro-amplifier designed specifically for commercial and professional AV integration applications such as classrooms, meeting rooms, and retail shops. It delivers 2 x 60 watts RMS into a 4 ohm load and uses fan-free convection cooling for silent operation. The amplifier features a universal external power supply (100-240V AC input) and an energy-saving "Auto Standby" function that minimizes power consumption in the absence of an audio signal.

For inputs, it provides a switchable balanced mic/unbalanced line input (with phantom power, noise gate, and "talkover" priority functions) and two additional stereo line inputs. Control is highly flexible, supporting local operation via a front-panel digital rotary knob, remote control via infrared (IR) receiver, 0-10 VDC wall panels, and an RS-232 serial port for integration with third-party control systems using the CA-NET protocol. The unit's output can be configured for stereo or parallel (mono) operation, with independent 2-band tone control (bass/treble) available for inputs.

About the EAW CA120 Power Amplifier

The EAW CA120 is a professional high-power stereo/mono power amplifier engineered to deliver robust and reliable audio amplification for fixed installation and portable sound reinforcement applications. As part of EAW's Commercial series, it is designed with a focus on durability, thermal management, and clean power output to drive a wide range of loudspeakers in demanding environments such as houses of worship, performing arts centers, nightclubs, and large-scale commercial installations. The amplifier utilizes a highly efficient Class H amplifier topology, which dynamically adjusts its internal rail voltages to match the signal requirements, resulting in significant reductions in heat generation and power consumption compared to traditional Class AB designs while maintaining high sonic fidelity.

This model is built into a robust 2U rack-mountable steel chassis with comprehensive cooling systems, typically featuring variable-speed fans that adjust based on thermal load to ensure quiet operation during low-level signals. The front panel provides clear metering for output level and status indicators for signal presence, clipping, and thermal protection. Configuration switches allow the user to set the amplifier for stereo, parallel, or bridge-mono operation, providing flexible power delivery options to match specific system requirements. For instance, in bridge-mono mode, the amplifier can combine its channels to deliver substantial power to a single low-impedance load, making it suitable for driving powerful subwoofers or large main arrays.

The CA120 incorporates advanced protection circuitry to safeguard both the amplifier and connected loudspeakers. This includes protections against DC offset, short circuits, overheating, and infrasonic signals. Input connectivity is provided via both XLR and barrier strip terminals, offering compatibility with balanced and unbalanced signal sources. Outputs are typically robust binding posts and Speakon connectors to ensure secure connections to speaker cabinets. For system designers and installers who require a workhorse amplifier that combines high power, operational efficiency, and proven reliability, the EAW CA120 stands as a professional-grade component capable of forming the foundation of a high-performance audio system.
