The JVC Professional KA-M790G is a specialized multicore studio interface module designed to integrate the JVC GY-HM790 and GY-HM890 professional camcorders into a traditional broadcast studio or outside broadcast (OB) van infrastructure. This module functions as the critical interface between the camera's internal systems and the standard triax or multicore cable systems used in studio environments for camera control, video return, intercom, and power. It allows these handheld/ENG-style camcorders to be used as fully functional studio cameras, providing operators with familiar studio controls such as paint adjustments (color balance, detail), remote lens control (zoom, focus, iris), and tally lights, all managed from a camera control unit (CCU) located in the production control room.

The module mounts to the rear of the compatible camera, connecting via a dedicated port, and provides industry-standard outputs. It typically interfaces with a studio's existing triax or multicore cable via a standardized connector, carrying bidirectional signals for HD-SDI video output, return video feed for the camera operator's viewfinder, intercom audio, camera control data, and often DC power to run the camera (eliminating the need for an on-camera battery). This enables the camera to be positioned on a studio pedestal, tripod, or crane and operated remotely with the same precision and feature set as a traditional studio camera.
