Lutron RR-MAIN-REP RadioRA2 Main Repeater

$0.00

The Lutron RadioRA 2 Main Repeater (model RR-MAIN-REP) serves as the central hub for the RadioRA 2 lighting control system, connecting to your home's router to facilitate wireless communication between dimmers, keypads, and sensors. It extends the range of the system's radio frequency (RF) signals up to approximately 30 feet, ensuring reliable, error-free communication and preventing interference from neighboring systems. The main repeater hosts the system's program and is required for any RadioRA 2 system setup, with the ability to add up to four auxiliary repeaters for larger systems.

About the Lutron RR-MAIN-REP RadioRA2 Main Repeater

The Lutron RR-MAIN-REP is the central processing and communication hub for the RadioRA 2 whole-home wireless lighting and shade control system. It acts as the primary coordinator, managing all communication between the system's various components, including dimmers, switches, keypads, occupancy sensors, and shade controllers. The repeater utilizes Lutron's proprietary Clear Connect RF technology, which operates on a dedicated, interference-free frequency to ensure highly reliable, low-latency communication with all devices within the home, even in environments dense with other wireless signals. Its primary function is to receive commands from user interfaces, process scheduling and automation logic, and then transmit the appropriate control signals to the designated devices, enabling seamless scene activation, time-based scheduling, and integration with third-party home automation systems.

Installation and configuration of the RadioRA 2 system are performed through the Lutron RadioRA 2 design software on a computer, which connects to the main repeater via Ethernet. The repeater stores the complete system programming, including all device assignments, scenes, schedules, and integration settings. Once programmed, it operates independently, executing schedules and responding to sensor triggers without requiring a continuous connection to a computer or external network. The inclusion of a backup battery ensures that timekeeping and basic schedules are maintained during a power outage, preserving user convenience. The repeater also features a visible LED status indicator that provides instant feedback on system power, communication activity, and any fault conditions, aiding in troubleshooting.

A critical role of the main repeater is to facilitate integration with broader smart home ecosystems. It includes connectivity ports for linking with home automation controllers via serial (RS-232) or IP (Ethernet) protocols, allowing the RadioRA 2 lighting system to be controlled by and interact with comprehensive home control systems from manufacturers like Crestron, Control4, and Savant, as well as voice assistants. This enables lighting to be part of sophisticated whole-home scenes that include audio, video, climate, and security. As the indispensable brain of the RadioRA 2 network, the RR-MAIN-REP provides the stability, processing power, and connectivity required for a robust, scalable, and professional-grade residential lighting control system.
