It is built on the proven M-Series software platform (now transitioning to the ONYX platform), providing a unified environment for fast-paced lighting design and extensive playback control within a single integrated unit.

At the center of its user interface are two 15.6-inch "BriteTouch" high-brightness multi-touch screens, which are specifically designed to remain readable even in direct sunlight, making the console suitable for both indoor and outdoor productions. These primary displays are augmented by two 3.5-inch "FastTouch" touchscreens and a comprehensive array of tactile controls, including motorized faders, rotary encoders, and a split T-bar for precise manual manipulation of lighting parameters. The console’s industrial motherboard is powered by an Intel Core i7 Quad-Core processor with 16GB of RAM, allowing it to process massive amounts of data without the need for external network processing units.

The M6 offers immense connectivity, capable of delivering up to 64 DMX universes directly from its internal network ports, with the ability to expand to 128 universes via upgrade kits. Its control surface is remarkably flexible, featuring a modular layout with 44 total playbacks, a dedicated dimmer wheel, and specialized "PlayPairs" buttons with their own LCD displays for clear labeling.
