About the EAW KF850EF Virtual Array Loudspeaker NL-8 Speakon Connector

The EAW KF850EF is an advanced, large-format virtual array loudspeaker that represents a significant evolution in sound reinforcement technology, blending high-output passive design with sophisticated electronically controlled directivity. This system is engineered for the most demanding large-scale applications, such as major concert tours, stadiums, and flagship performing arts centers, where precise control of sound propagation and consistent tonal quality at extreme distances are paramount. Unlike conventional line arrays, the KF850EF utilizes multiple, vertically arranged driver elements managed by an internal passive network and is designed to work in conjunction with proprietary external processing to create a "virtual" array. This processing applies complex algorithms to manipulate the interaction between the drivers, effectively shaping the vertical coverage pattern and optimizing the wavefront for long-throw applications without physically adjusting the cabinet angles.

The loudspeaker's formidable acoustic output is generated by a multi-driver complement, including multiple low-frequency and mid-frequency drivers paired with a high-frequency compression driver array, all housed within a single large enclosure. This configuration provides immense power handling and sensitivity, capable of delivering high sound pressure levels with exceptional clarity over vast distances. The key innovation lies in the external processing, which corrects phase and time relationships between the drivers, creating a coherent, focused beam of sound that can be electronically steered and contoured to match the venue's specific acoustics and audience geometry. This results in improved audience coverage, reduced stage volume, and minimized energy waste on ceilings and walls compared to traditional array systems.

Constructed to endure the rigors of touring, the KF850EF features a heavily braced, trapezoidal birch plywood enclosure with a rugged textured finish. It is outfitted with comprehensive, heavy-duty rigging hardware for secure flying in large arrays. Connectivity is provided via robust NL-8 Speakon connectors, which support the multi-channel signal paths required for the system's complex internal network when used with the dedicated processing. The combination of its brute-force acoustic capability, cutting-edge electronic directivity control, and road-proven durability establishes the EAW KF850EF as a top-tier solution for audio professionals seeking ultimate performance and control in the world's largest and most challenging sound reinforcement environments.
