EAW SB850 Dual 18" Stadium Array Subwoofer

$0.00

A dedicated subwoofer system with 2x 18-in transducers in a trapezoidal enclosure. Each driver is in its own optimally vented subenclosure. The “F” flown array version features handles, flytracks, and internal counterweights.

The SB850 high output Stadium Array subwoofer integrates with KF Series Stadium Array systems to form extended range flown arrays. Nineteen-position flytracks and internal counterweights ensure a “dead hang.” Tuned enclosure venting extends LF response and minimizes driver strain. MX Series processors extend LF response and safeguard against cone excursion damage.

Six Year Warranty.

About the EAW SB850 Dual 18" Stadium Array Subwoofer

The EAW SB850 is a monumental dual 18-inch passive subwoofer system engineered specifically for extreme low-frequency output in the largest and most demanding professional audio applications, such as stadium concerts, major outdoor festivals, and large-scale permanent installations. This arrayable subwoofer is designed to be deployed in multiples, forming massive ground-stacked or flown arrays that deliver unparalleled bass energy capable of filling vast, open spaces with deep, articulate, and physically impactful low frequencies. Its design incorporates two high-excursion 18-inch drivers within a compound-loaded, vented enclosure, optimized for maximum acoustic efficiency and extended sub-bass response. The system is built to produce not only immense sound pressure levels but also to maintain clarity and control at those levels, ensuring that bass remains tight and defined even at the peak output required for modern large-format live events.

Acoustic performance is driven by an advanced enclosure architecture that often employs a band-pass or hybrid horn-loaded design, meticulously tuned to optimize the combined output of the dual transducers. This approach extends the system's usable low-frequency response well into the sub-30 Hz range while maintaining high sensitivity, allowing it to reproduce the deepest musical content and cinematic low-frequency effects with authority. The drivers are built with heavyweight motor structures, large-diameter voice coils, and rigid cones to handle immense thermal and mechanical power, ensuring linear performance under maximum load. When arrayed, these subwoofers couple acoustically to create a cohesive and directional low-frequency wavefront, providing even coverage and the potential for cardioid configurations to control bass dispersion and reduce stage energy.

Constructed to withstand the immense internal forces and physical rigors of touring and outdoor use, the SB850 features an incredibly robust multi-ply birch plywood enclosure with extensive internal bracing and reinforced steel corners. Its trapezoidal shape and integrated, heavy-gauge steel rigging points allow for secure flying in large arrays or stable, interlocked ground-stacking. The cabinet is finished in a highly durable, textured coating resistant to abrasion and environmental exposure. Connectivity is provided via high-current NL8 or multiple NL4 Speakon connectors to accommodate the substantial power and signal requirements of arrayed systems. The combination of its brute-force output, sophisticated acoustic design, and road-proven durability makes the EAW SB850 the definitive choice for audio professionals who demand the ultimate in scalable, high-impact low-frequency reinforcement for the world's largest venues.
