EAW SBX220 Compact High Powered Subwoofer

$0.00

The EAW SBX220 is a compact, high-powered subwoofer with an enclosure styled to complement JFX Series Loudspeakers. It contains two advanced 12-inch woofers mounted in a "clam shell" driver arrangement, which provides tight driver coupling to increase outut. A massive port radiates the considerable energy needed at the enclosures tuning frequency to complement the JFX Series' high output.

The SBX220 was designed primarily for portable applications, but may readily be used in installations where space is restricted. At only 18-inches high, it is very effective in houses of worship, clubs, and theaters where subwoofers must be installed under a low stage.

About the EAW SBX220 Compact High Powered Subwoofer

The EAW SBX220 is a highly capable and compact dual 10-inch subwoofer engineered to deliver powerful, extended low-frequency reproduction in space-conscious professional audio environments. Despite its relatively small footprint, the cabinet utilizes a vented bandpass design housing two long-excursion 10-inch woofers, a configuration that maximizes acoustic output and efficiency in the critical sub-bass range. This design philosophy prioritizes a potent low-end punch and visceral impact, making it an ideal solution for reinforcing music playback, enhancing multimedia presentations, and providing foundational bass for small to medium-sized live sound applications. Its compact form factor allows for discreet placement under stages, within furniture, or in corners where larger subwoofers would be impractical, without sacrificing the authoritative low-frequency presence required for a full-range sound system.

The subwoofer operates in a passive mode, requiring connection to an external amplifier and processing. It is built to handle significant continuous power, translating to high maximum sound pressure levels that belie its size. The bandpass enclosure design is carefully tuned to optimize the output and bandwidth of the dual drivers, providing a frequency response that digs deep while maintaining clarity and definition. This makes the SBX220 particularly effective for electronic music, drum reinforcement, and adding weight to theatrical sound design. The cabinet itself is constructed from rugged, void-free plywood and finished with a durable, textured coating, ensuring it can withstand the demands of both permanent installation and mobile use.

Integration is straightforward, featuring robust NL4 speakON connectors for secure, lockable connections. The SBX220 is designed to be used alongside full-range loudspeakers from complementary series, with recommended crossover points and processing settings available to ensure seamless blending. Its ability to produce clean, high-output bass from a small enclosure makes it a favored choice for fixed installations in houses of worship, nightclubs, conference facilities, and portable systems for DJs and band performances where transportability and setup speed are valued. The EAW SBX220 demonstrates that substantial low-frequency energy and extension can be achieved without the need for a bulky cabinet, offering a powerful audio solution where space and output are primary considerations.
