About the Rycote Softie 1.9" Long, 0.9" Wind-Screen 1

The Rycote 5cm Classic-Softie (specifically the Large Hole variant, measuring 1.9 inches in internal depth and approximately 0.9 inches in hole diameter) is an industry-standard, slip-on microphone windshield. Designed primarily for broadcast, ENG (Electronic News Gathering), and documentary location sound, it provides a fast, robust, and cost-effective way to protect sensitive microphones from harsh wind gusts without the bulk of a full blimp system.

Because the "Large Hole" (24-25mm) variant is slightly wider than the standard shotgun mic diameter, it is engineered specifically to accommodate microphones with thicker barrels, such as the Sennheiser MKH 20, 30, 40, and 50 series. It consists of an acoustic open-cell foam base covered by an integrated synthetic fur jacket, which together scatter wind energy before it can strike the microphone capsule.
