AMX DXLink Twisted Pair HDMI Transmitter/Receiver

$44.99
The AMX DXLink series of transmitters and receivers (available in various form factors like modules and wallplates, e.g., models DX-TX-4K60 and DX-RX-4K60) are designed to overcome the distance limitations of standard HDMI cabling by using cost-effective twisted pair cabling. These units function as a point-to-point extension solution or can be integrated into larger AMX systems like the Enova DGX Digital Media Switchers. The receivers may feature built-in SmartScale Technology to automatically adjust video resolutions to the optimal settings of connected displays, preventing compatibility issues. The system fully supports modern video standards including HDMI 2.0, HDCP 2.2, and HDR10, ensuring compatibility with current 4K content and displays. For power, the units can be powered locally with an included desktop supply or remotely via Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) from a compatible AMX power-sourcing device.

About the AMX DXLink Twisted Pair HDMI Transmitter/Receiver

The AMX DXLink Twisted Pair HDMI Transmitter and Receiver set constitutes a professional-grade extension solution designed to transmit high-definition audio and video signals, along with comprehensive control data, over long distances using standard CAT-type cabling. This system addresses the fundamental limitation of standard HDMI cables, which are typically restricted to short runs, by converting the HDMI signal at the source into a format that can travel efficiently over a twisted pair wire for several hundred feet without significant signal degradation. The transmitter unit connects to the video source, while the receiver unit connects to the display or projector, together creating a transparent, high-bandwidth bridge that is essential for large-scale installations in corporate boardrooms, education facilities, command and control centers, and digital signage networks.

Beyond simple video extension, the DXLink technology integrates bidirectional serial, infrared, and Ethernet control signals over the same single cable run. This allows users to not only send content from a Blu-ray player, computer, or video conferencing codec to a distant screen but also to send control commands back from the display location to the source equipment. For instance, a touch panel in a conference room can control a DVD player located in a central rack closet. The system supports high-resolution formats, including 4K, and is engineered to handle the increased bandwidth of modern video standards with low latency, ensuring real-time performance for interactive and live video applications.

The hardware is built for reliability in permanent installations, featuring robust metal housings and locking connectors to ensure a secure connection. Installation and configuration are managed through dedicated software, which allows integrators to fine-tune video settings, manage EDID communication between devices, and route the embedded control signals. By consolidating video, audio, and control onto a single, cost-effective CAT cable, the AMX DXLink system significantly simplifies infrastructure, reduces installation complexity and cost compared to specialty fiber solutions, and provides a scalable, future-ready backbone for sophisticated AV distribution systems.
