The Blackmagic Design ATEM Production Studio 4K is a professional live event multi-camera production switcher designed for the demanding requirements of live broadcasts, studios, and large venue A/V presentations, supporting formats up to Ultra HD 4K. Housed in a compact 1U rack-mountable chassis, the switcher provides eight simultaneous video inputs that can handle a variety of signals including SD, HD, and Ultra HD via a mix of 6G-SDI and HDMI 4K connections. A key operational advantage is that every single input features a built-in frame synchronizer, allowing the use of sources that are not genlocked (like consumer cameras or laptops for presentations) without causing video disruption.

This switcher offers extensive creative and technical capabilities that go beyond simple switching. It includes a powerful internal 10-input, 2-channel audio mixer that can handle embedded audio from all video inputs, as well as separate balanced XLR and HiFi RCA analog inputs. For effects and graphics, the unit is equipped with one upstream keyer with chroma, linear, and luma keying capabilities, plus two downstream keyers for adding logos, titles, and lower thirds from the internal media pool. The built-in multiview feature allows operators to monitor up to 10 views (program, preview, and eight sources) on a single external HD-SDI or HDMI monitor.

Control of the ATEM Production Studio 4K is flexible, primarily managed through the included ATEM Software Control panel for Mac and Windows computers connected via Ethernet or USB. The front panel of the unit also features illuminated buttons and an LCD screen for direct control of auxiliary outputs, enabling operators to send clean feeds to specific monitors or recorders quickly. The system's ability to switch instantly between different video standards (SD, HD, Ultra HD) makes it a versatile solution for a wide range of international production environments.
