  • Normal mode for SMPTE ST 259 (143 Þ 540Mb/s) or SMPTE ST 292-1 (1.5Gb/s) signals - autodetects correct bitrate
  • Jumper Selectable mode for DVB-ASI
  • Jumper selectable non-reclock mode for SMPTE ST 310 (19.4Mb/s) signals or any other SDI signal within the 143Mb/s to 1.5Gb/s range
  • Fully hot-swappable from front of frame with no BNC disconnect required
  • Independent isolated output drivers to ensure no cross channel loading effects (i.e. no need to terminate unused outputs)
  • Tally output on Frame Status bus upon loss of input signal for quality monitoring

About the Evertz 500DA-HD-L Reclocking Distribution Amplifier

The Evertz 500DA-HD-L is a standalone, modular reclocking distribution amplifier engineered for the distribution and regeneration of high-definition serial digital video (HD-SDI) signals within professional broadcast and production environments. Part of the Evertz 500 series, this unit is designed to accept a single HD-SDI input and provide multiple isolated, reclocked outputs, ensuring signal integrity is maintained when feeding multiple destinations such as monitors, routers, recorders, and transmission equipment. Its primary function is to act as a signal "booster" and cleaner; it not only splits the signal but also actively removes accumulated jitter—a common cause of picture errors and loss of lock—by retiming the data stream to a stable internal clock. This is particularly crucial for long cable runs or in systems where the source signal may have degraded timing.

Housed in a compact, standalone enclosure, the 500DA-HD-L offers flexibility for installations where a full modular frame system is not required or for point-of-use signal reinforcement. The unit is built to broadcast-grade reliability standards, featuring robust BNC connectors and a metal chassis. It typically includes status indicators, such as LEDs for power and signal presence, providing immediate visual confirmation of operational health. The reclocking circuitry is designed to be transparent to the video data, faithfully reproducing the original 1.485 Gbps HD-SDI signal (SMPTE 292M) on each output without altering the embedded audio or ancillary data.

The "L" designation often indicates a specific variant, potentially related to its form factor, output count, or added features like extended equalization for longer input cable compensation. Its standalone nature makes it easy to integrate into existing racks or equipment cabinets without the need for a supporting backplane system. The Evertz 500DA-HD-L serves as a fundamental, yet critical, component in the broadcast signal chain, providing a simple, effective, and reliable solution for ensuring clean, stable HD-SDI video is available wherever it is needed throughout a facility.
