About the Blackmagic Design URSA Cine 12K LF 100G (Body)
The Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF 100G is a revolutionary digital film camera that bridges the gap between high-end cinema production and live broadcast workflows. This model builds upon the groundbreaking URSA Cine 12K LF by adding dramatically faster 100G Ethernet networking for SMPTE-2110 live production output at unprecedented frame rates, transforming what was already a premier digital cinema camera into a true broadcast production powerhouse.
At the heart of the camera lies a revolutionary large format RGBW sensor measuring 35.64mm x 23.32mm with a native resolution of 12,288 x 8,040 pixels. This sensor architecture features equal amounts of red, green, and blue pixels, enabling incredible color super-sampling and delivering an astounding 16 stops of dynamic range. Native ISO ranges from 200 to 3200, providing excellent low-light performance. The in-sensor scaling technology allows recording at all resolutions without cropping, maintaining consistent field of view regardless of output format.
The defining feature of this 100G model is its ability to output real-time SMPTE-2110 IP video via 100G Ethernet QSFP28 connection. When switched to Live mode, the camera instantly transforms into a broadcast studio camera capable of delivering cinematic quality at up to 2160p60, with slow-motion replay capabilities reaching an astonishing 440fps when paired with optional B4 broadcast lenses. This makes the URSA Cine 12K LF 100G ideal for live sports, concert broadcasts, and high-end event production that demand both cinematic aesthetic and broadcast reliability.
Recording flexibility is exceptional with dual CFexpress Type B card slots and support for high-capacity Blackmagic Media Modules (up to 16TB) that install into the camera's media bay. The camera records exclusively to industry-standard 12-bit Blackmagic RAW format, preserving full sensor metadata including white balance, LUTs, and lens data. Frame rate capabilities reach 80fps at full 12K, 144fps at 8K, and 240fps at 4K resolution. Professional connectivity includes dual 12G-SDI outputs, 2 XLR audio inputs with phantom power, timecode reference, and multiple expansion ports.
Build quality and professional features include a lightweight yet robust camera body with industry-standard connections. The camera includes built-in motorized ND filters (2, 4, and 6 stops) for shooting in varying lighting conditions. A high-performance optical low-pass filter (OLPF) reduces moire and aliasing artifacts. Connectivity options encompass high-speed Wi-Fi, 100G Ethernet, and mobile data for network connections, along with built-in RTMP and SRT live streaming capabilities. Generation 6 Color Science introduces an improved processing pipeline with 3D LUT support for film, extended video, and video gamuts. The camera includes a built-in live hardware color corrector based on DaVinci Resolve's primary correction tools. DaVinci Resolve Studio is included with the camera for post-production.
