The HD Projection ILS Fixed Lens from Christie is a lens incorporating the Intelligent Lens System (ILS). The ILS automatically recognizes and calibrates a lens when it is installed. Stepper-motor-based encoding ensures that motor drift does not occur, thus providing accurate and repeatable recall of all lens offset, zoom, and focus positions. When used with Christie M Series HD/WU products, this ILS fixed lens has a 0.67:1 throw ratio. If used with any Christie M Series SXGA+ products, the ILS fixed lens will provide a 0.73:1 throw ratio.

The Christie 0.73:1 (SXGA+ resolution) or 0.67:1 (HD resolution) fixed-focus lens is a specialized short-throw optic designed for use with high-performance Christie 3-chip DLP projectors, including the M, J, and Roadster series. It provides professional installers with a solution for applications where the projector must be mounted very close to the screen, such as rear-projection setups, simulation environments, or compact stage designs. The fixed focal length design ensures optical precision and stability, avoiding the complexities associated with zoom mechanisms in ultra-short-throw applications.

The lens features Christie's Intelligent Lens System (ILS), which provides motorized control for lens offset (horizontal and vertical) directly from the projector's remote control or software interface. The ILS also automatically recognizes and calibrates the lens upon installation. It uses stepper-motor-based encoding to precisely save and recall lens positions without mechanical drift, which is common with less advanced DC motor systems. This ensures consistent and repeatable performance for complex multi-projector arrays and edge blending applications.

The specific throw ratio and offset percentages depend on the native resolution of the projector body it is paired with. When used with an SXGA+ (1400 x 1050 native resolution, 0.95" chip) projector, the throw ratio is 0.73:1. When paired with an HD (1920 x 1080 native resolution, 0.67" chip) or WUXGA (1920 x 1200) projector, the throw ratio becomes 0.67:1. This lens maintains excellent focus and thermal stability due to its all-glass construction, making it a reliable component in rigorous operational environments.
