Allen & Heath HEC-5000 5 Channel Hum Elimantor

$660.00

The HEC-5000 now joins other multi-channel hum eliminators manufactured by Allen Avionics. Like the HEC-3000, which provides 3 channels of hum reduction, and the HEC-4000 that provides 3 channels of hum reduction plus 1 channel of transformer isolation, the HEC-5000 hum eliminator stops all 50 Hz or 60 Hz hum. The HEC-5000 is designed to eliminate hum in video applications caused by long cable runs or ground loops.

This newest addition has a bandwidth of over 100 MHz per channel, making it suitable for most HDTV applications and many video projection systems with 100 MHz bandwidth. The HEC-5000 has channels for Red/Y, Green/CB, Blue/RC, H.Sync and V.Sync.

About the Allen & Heath HEC-5000 5 Channel Hum Elimantor

The Allen & Heath HEC-5000 is a professional five-channel passive hum eliminator designed to remove unwanted AC line hum and buzz caused by ground loops in complex audio signal paths. Ground loops occur when multiple pieces of audio equipment are connected to different AC power outlets, creating small voltage differences that manifest as a low-frequency hum (typically 50Hz or 60Hz) in the audio signal. The HEC-5000 solves this pervasive problem by utilizing high-quality audio transformers to provide complete galvanic isolation between the input and output of each of its five independent channels. This breaks the electrical ground loop path, eliminating the hum while preserving the integrity and fidelity of the audio signal.

Engineered for simplicity, reliability, and effective problem-solving, the unit is a passive device requiring no external power. Each channel features an XLR female input and an XLR male output. The carefully designed transformers ensure a wide, flat frequency response and the ability to handle professional line-level signals without introducing distortion or significant level loss. Its compact, robust metal housing is built for permanent installation in equipment racks or for inclusion in a touring engineer's toolkit. The design is straightforward with no user controls; it is simply connected in-line with the problematic signal path to provide an immediate and transparent fix.

The Allen & Heath HEC-5000 is an indispensable tool for live sound engineers, system integrators, and recording studio technicians. It is commonly used to clean up signals between mixing consoles and powered speakers, between computers and PA systems, in multi-console broadcast setups, and in any installed audio system where unexplained hum appears. By providing a reliable and sonically transparent method of eliminating ground loop noise across five channels, it ensures clean, professional audio quality in even the most complex system configurations.
