RME AI4S-AIO Analog Input Expansion Board

$0.00

The AI4S-AIO expands the analog connectivity of compatible RME audio interfaces by adding four servo-balanced, 24-bit/192kHz analog inputs via 1/4" TRS jacks. The converters and pre-amp circuitry on the expansion board are designed to match the high-quality performance of the analog I/O already built into the host card, ensuring consistent and pristine audio quality. It features a high signal-to-noise ratio of 116 dBA and excellent suppression of PC-generated noise. The input sensitivity for the four channels can be adjusted to one of three different reference levels (+19 dBu, +13 dBu, or +2 dBV) via the software settings. The added input channels are automatically integrated and controlled via RME's TotalMix software, providing seamless control and monitoring.

  • Expansion for compatible RME cards: The AI4S-192 AIO adds four additional analog inputs to the HDSPe AIO (PCIe) and HDSP 9632 (PCI) cards.
  • High-quality conversion: The expansion board uses the same high-quality analog-to-digital converters as the host HDSPe AIO card, supporting up to 24-bit/192kHz resolution.
  • Selectable reference levels: You can choose from three different reference levels in the settings dialog to perfectly match the input gain to your analog sources. The available levels are Lo Gain, +4 dBu, and -10 dBV.
  • Servo-balanced inputs: All four inputs use 1/4" TRS jacks with a servo-balanced circuit design. This provides excellent sound quality and reduces the risk of noise from PC components.
  • Low noise and distortion: The board offers exceptional audio performance, including a high signal-to-noise ratio (116 dBA) and low total harmonic distortion + noise (THD+N) below -104 dB.

About the RME AI4S-AIO Analog Input Expansion Board

The RME AI4S-AIO is a specialized analog input expansion board designed to integrate seamlessly with RME's flagship audio interfaces, such as the HDSPe AIO and RayDAT cards, adding four channels of high-quality analog line-level inputs to the system. This board is engineered for professionals who require additional analog connectivity for outboard gear, synthesizers, tape machines, or other line-level sources within a primarily digital studio setup. It installs directly into a dedicated slot on the compatible RME interface, leveraging the interface's superior clocking and digital conversion infrastructure to ensure that the added analog inputs meet the same rigorous standards of transparency, low noise, and high dynamic range as the host unit's native inputs.

The AI4S-AIO features four balanced analog inputs on DB-25 connectors, following the Tascam pinout standard, which is common in professional audio equipment. This allows for connection to a wide array of studio gear using readily available DB-25 to XLR or TRS breakout cables. The inputs are designed for professional +4 dBu operating levels and provide excellent common-mode rejection to minimize noise and interference in complex studio environments. By adding this board, users can expand their system's analog input capacity without compromising on the audio quality or stability for which RME is renowned, maintaining a unified, low-latency system controlled through RME's powerful TotalMix software mixer.

This expansion solution exemplifies RME's modular approach, allowing users to build a tailored I/O configuration that grows with their needs. It is an ideal upgrade for recording engineers, post-production facilities, and composers who need to integrate more external processors or instruments into their digital audio workstation without adding separate, potentially clock-mismatched, analog-to-digital converters. The AI4S-AIO, combined with an RME interface, delivers a rock-solid, integrated system with pristine analog conversion and the routing flexibility that professionals demand.
