RME HDSP9652 Hammerfall - 26 Input / 26 Output 24-bit/96kHz PCI card

$0.00

The HDSP 9652 from RME is a digital I/O PCI card for use with both Windows and Mac OS based computers. It offers three sets of ADAT optical I/O, ADAT-Sync In, SPDIF I/O and word clock I/O. Also included are two MIDI inputs and outputs (for a total of thirty-two channel) and TotalMix, a DSP-based real-time software mixer/router.

A clear structured and easy to understand set-up window plus an informative status windows for input signal, clock mode, sample rate and time code make working with the HDSP 9652 a real pleasure. When working with several digital sources it is not only necessary to know if these are properly locked, but also if they are totally synchronized. RME’s SyncCheck function checks all input signals and displays their actual state.

A display of the time code at the ADAT Sync-In port offers a quick check of the communication between external device and the card. The HDSP 9652‘s Secure BIOS Technology allows the user to perform hardware updates via software/drivers without any risk. And because of its “Zero CPU Load” technology the card provides high performance and low latency.

About the RME HDSP9652 Hammerfall - 26 Input / 26 Output 24-bit/96kHz PCI card

The RME HDSP 9652 Hammerfall is a professional high-definition audio interface in the form of a PCI card, designed for studio and broadcast applications requiring a large number of simultaneous digital audio channels. It provides 26 channels of both input and output at resolutions up to 24-bit/96kHz, focusing exclusively on digital connectivity to integrate with external digital mixers, converters, and multitrack recorders. The card's core technology is RME's proprietary Hammerfall DSP system, which delivers extremely stable, low-latency performance through a dedicated onboard digital signal processor that handles all audio routing and synchronization independently from the host computer's CPU. This ensures reliable operation even under heavy multi-track workloads in Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) like Pro Tools, Cubase, and Nuendo.

The interface offers a comprehensive array of professional digital ports on its breakout cable(s), typically including three ADAT optical ports (supporting up to 24 channels at 44.1/48kHz, or 12 channels at 88.2/96kHz via S/MUX), one stereo AES/EBU port on XLR, and one stereo S/PDIF port on coaxial RCA. This flexible I/O configuration allows the card to aggregate multiple external preamps, converters, and digital devices into a single, synchronized system. The HDSP 9652 excels in clock management, featuring RME's SteadyClock technology for superior jitter reduction and the ability to act as a master or slave to other digital gear, ensuring pristine audio transfer without digital artifacts. Its drivers are renowned for their stability and support for multiple professional audio protocols on Windows and Mac systems.

As a PCI card, the HDSP 9652 is intended for installation in a desktop computer, forming the digital heart of a professional studio's recording and mixing setup. It is particularly valued in project studios and post-production facilities that have outboard digital processing or those building systems around high-channel-count ADAT-based preamp racks. While it lacks analog I/O, its purpose is to provide a robust, high-channel-count digital bridge with unparalleled synchronization and driver stability. Even as an older model, the HDSP 9652 remains a respected and sought-after interface for users who need a reliable, high-performance digital audio card to build a scalable, professional digital audio network within their computer.
