Sennheiser MKE 440 Stereo Shotgun Microphone for Cameras [B-Stock]

$0.00

The MKE 440 is built to deliver focused, high-quality stereo sound for video recordings. Its unique dual mini-shotgun configuration effectively rejects off-axis noise, allowing for clear capture of speech and other critical sounds directly in front of the camera, even in noisy environments. The microphone is designed for easy operation, with a three-level sensitivity switch and a low-cut filter to manage unwanted low-frequency noise (like wind or handling rumble).
It is powered by two AAA batteries and features an integrated elastic suspension system to minimize handling noise from the camera. The sturdy metal housing adds durability, while the standard cold shoe mount and 3.5mm jack ensure compatibility with most cameras. Its compact size means it won't add bulk to your camera setup, making it ideal for run-and-gun shooting and vlogging.

About the Sennheiser MKE 440 Stereo Shotgun Microphone for Cameras [B-Stock]

The Sennheiser MKE 440 is a compact, self-contained stereo shotgun microphone designed specifically for DSLR and mirrorless cameras, camcorders, and portable video recorders. It is engineered to capture rich, spatial stereo sound directly on-camera, significantly improving upon built-in microphone audio for videographers, documentarians, and content creators. The microphone employs a unique dual-capsule, mid-side (M/S) array within a short interference tube: one capsule captures a forward-facing, cardioid "Mid" signal for direct sound and dialogue, while a second, bidirectional capsule captures the ambient "Side" information. These signals are matrixed internally to produce a natural, adjustable stereo image output via a standard 3.5mm TRS plug, providing a sense of width and depth that mono shotguns cannot achieve.

The MKE 440 is designed for extreme ease of use and portability. It mounts directly to the camera's hot shoe, drawing power from the camera's 3.5mm microphone jack (plug-in power), eliminating the need for batteries or external power supplies. A three-position switch on the body allows the user to select the stereo width: "Mono" mode outputs only the Mid signal for focused dialogue, "Normal Stereo" provides a balanced stereo image suitable for most situations, and "Wide Stereo" enhances the Side signal for a more immersive, expansive soundscape. The microphone includes a built-in shock mount to minimize handling noise and comes with a furry windshield (windjammer) for effective outdoor use. Its compact, low-profile design ensures it doesn't obstruct the camera's screen or controls.

As a B-Stock item, the MKE 440 delivers the full acoustic performance and build quality of a new microphone but may have minor cosmetic imperfections or come without retail packaging. It represents an excellent value for filmmakers seeking a significant upgrade to their camera's audio capability with minimal setup complexity. By providing adjustable stereo recording in a plug-and-play format, the Sennheiser MKE 440 enables solo shooters to capture professional-grade, cinematic sound that enhances storytelling and production value without the need for external recorders or complicated audio setups.
