JVC Professional FS-900BS1SCAM2 Multidyne 2 Camera Fiber Back Package Plus Fiber Base Station – SMPTE 304M

$0.00

The Multidyne 2-Camera Fiber Back Package + Fiber Base Station from JVC offers bi-directional 3G-SDI 1080p/60 video feed-and-return for up to three JVC GY-HM890 or GY-HC900 camcorders using Neutrik opticalCON fiber cable and a single base station. This bundle includes the base station and two camera fiber modules with SMPTE 304M connectors. Control, audio, sync, and intercom are also transmitted between camera and base station.

The FS-900 base station has built-in gigabit Ethernet that works with the GY-HM890 or GY-HC900 streaming capabilities to provide video-over-IP transmission as well. The FS-900 base station is designed to integrate with existing systems, providing two HD/SDI outputs with return SDI and VBS connections (for analog signals), audio (RTS TW intercom module) and sync/control functions including bi-level / tri-level sync, tally/GPIO, teleprompter input, timecode, and remote camera control input. The camera module attaches directly to the camera back using a 68-pin interface, eliminating the need for external cable connectors. The base's redundant power supply offers a maximum of 150W for each camera and its accessories.

About the JVC Professional FS-900BS1SCAM2 Multidyne 2 Camera Fiber Back Package Plus Fiber Base Station – SMPTE 304M

The JVC Professional FS-900BS1SCAM2 Multidyne 2 Camera Fiber Back Package is a comprehensive, high-performance broadcast and live production system engineered for transmitting uncompressed video, audio, data, and control signals over long distances via a single optical fiber. This integrated solution is built around the SMPTE 304M standard, providing a reliable and robust fiber infrastructure suitable for demanding multi-camera setups in sports broadcasting, live event production, and studio environments. The system's core advantage lies in its ability to replace cumbersome bundles of copper cables with a single, lightweight fiber strand, dramatically simplifying setup, reducing weight, and eliminating electromagnetic interference over runs that can exceed several kilometers without signal degradation. It represents a significant investment in signal integrity and operational flexibility, enabling production teams to place cameras far from the central control point without sacrificing quality or control.

The package typically includes fiber optic transmitters (camera-back units) that interface directly with professional cameras, converting the camera's baseband HD-SDI output, intercom, tally, and auxiliary data into an optical signal. These transmitter units are designed for rugged field use and often feature local power input options, including support for standard camera battery plates. At the other end of the fiber link, the included fiber base station acts as the central hub, receiving the optical signals from multiple cameras, demultiplexing them, and outputting standard video, audio, and control feeds to a production switcher, router, or recording device. The base station also handles the reverse path, sending intercom, program return video, and control data back to each camera operator, creating a seamless, bi-directional workflow that mimics a traditional copper-based system but with far greater reach and resilience.

Operational control and monitoring are integral to the system's design, often facilitated through intuitive software or a web-based interface accessible via Ethernet. This allows engineers to remotely monitor signal health, adjust levels, and configure system parameters for each camera link from a central location. Power for the remote transmitters can be supplied via the fiber optic cable itself (using composite power-over-fiber technology), from a local battery, or from an external DC source, offering flexibility in challenging deployments. By converging multiple signal types onto one fiber, this package not only future-proofs the production infrastructure but also streamulates logistics, reduces points of failure, and ensures the pristine quality of the source signal is maintained from the camera lens all the way to the production truck or master control room.
