Description

The Tannoy 110 SR Sheet Rock subwoofer - like its companions, the 110 TB (Tile Bridge) and the 110 CS (Corner Sub) - is a compact, 10" down-firing, vented cabinet capable of 31Hz at -3dB. The 110 SR flush mounts into sheet rock ceilings, walls or overhangs - any position offering adequate clearance and suitable structural support. The unit comes complete with a low profile square grille. The 110 SR cabinet is fitted with seismic tether points and comes with a sturdy pre-installation ring (110 SR-Ring) for safe and secure installation of the unit. (The pre-installation ring is available separately for new construction where the sheet rock installers arrive before the contractor.) Fire rating for the 110 SR is NFPA Grade A. The 110 SR incorporates an 8" x 10" input module located on the side of the cabinet. The input module controls are easily accessed by removing the grille. The 110 SR remains serviceable and fully removable from the ground after installation. The 110 SR can be ordered with a passive input module (110 SR-P) connected via barrier strip or with a passive internal crossover (110 SR-PX). Both passive modules can be powered by a THP 60 Watt / 70 Volt line transformer for distributed systems (110 SR-P70V and 110 SR-PX 70V). Alternatively, the 110 SR can be powered by a 110 Watt active amplifier (110 SR-A) or with a Tannoy PowerLinx PLA 305 - 300 Watt multi-channel amplifier (110 SR-MC), with 110 Watts dedicated to the subwoofer. Both the active and multi-channel options are UL and CSA approved. Read more

About the Tannoy 110SR Passive 10" Sheet Rock Subwoofer

The Tannoy 110SR is a specialized passive subwoofer designed for discrete, high-performance low-frequency extension in custom installed home theater and high-end music listening environments. Its defining feature is the "Sheet Rock" installation method, which allows the subwoofer driver and enclosure to be completely concealed within a framed wall or ceiling cavity, finished over with standard drywall (sheetrock). Only a paintable grille remains visible, creating a truly invisible audio solution that preserves room aesthetics. The subwoofer is engineered to work in conjunction with the air volume and spring characteristics of the sealed cavity behind it, utilizing Tannoy's advanced acoustic design to produce deep, controlled, and articulate bass that appears to emanate from the room itself rather than a visible speaker box.

This subwoofer requires careful integration and calibration, as its performance is intrinsically linked to the size and construction of the custom enclosure built by the installer. It is typically paired with a high-quality external amplifier capable of delivering substantial power to drive the 10-inch long-throw woofer. The design focuses on minimizing distortion and maximizing efficiency within its operating bandwidth, ensuring that bass reproduction is tight, fast, and musically accurate. The 110SR is ideal for dedicated home theaters, luxury media rooms, and critical listening spaces where the goal is to achieve reference-quality low-frequency effects and musical bass without any visual intrusion from loudspeaker cabinets.

For custom integrators and homeowners seeking the ultimate in stealth audio performance, the Tannoy 110SR represents a pinnacle of architectural speaker design. It transforms a section of the room's structure into part of the audio system, delivering a seamless and immersive bass experience that conventional subwoofers cannot match from a visual standpoint. Successful implementation requires expert installation and system tuning but results in a breathtaking audio presentation where the room itself becomes an instrument, capable of delivering the full emotional and physical impact of the low-end spectrum.
