The AJA KiStor Solid State Drive, with the specific model number KISTOR1TBUSB-R0, is engineered as a robust and reliable storage solution for use with AJA's line of Ki Pro file-based recorders, including the Ki Pro and Ki Pro Rack units. Encased in a tough outer shell, this 1TB SSD is designed to endure the physical rigors of field production, protecting valuable media content. A key feature is its reinforced connection, specifically engineered to withstand a high number of insertion and removal cycles, a common requirement in daily production workflows, unlike standard consumer drives.

The drive streamlines the post-production workflow by allowing direct connectivity to a computer via its built-in USB 3.0 port for quick offloading of footage without requiring an external dock. Alternatively, it can be connected to the separately available KiStor Dock via SATA or Thunderbolt for even faster transfers to an editing system. The KiStor module can be formatted directly on the Ki Pro device, offering standalone functionality on location. It has the capacity to hold approximately 11 hours of 1080p/24 Apple ProRes 422 HQ footage or 18 hours of Avid DNxHD 145, according to B&H.
