Description

The MZA 900 P phantom power adaptor is used to connect pre-polarized condenser microphones with a 3.5mm jack plug to microphone inputs with 10 - 52 V phantom powering (P12 - P48). The connected microphone is supplied via the adaptor. The phantom power adaptor is available in two different versions: - MZA 900 P with lockable 3.5 mm jack socket (as evolution wireless) - MZA 900 P-4 with lockable 3-pin special socket The adaptor is also a quick and flexible solution if a microphone is to be used for both wired and wireless applications. One and the same microphone can be used together with the MZA 900 P(-4) for wired applications (e.g. in the studio) or with a transmitter of the evolution series for wireless applications. The MZA 900 P can also be used as a cable tester for XLR microphone cables. Read more

About the Sennheiser MZA900 P-4 P48 Phantom Power Adapter

The Sennheiser MZA900 P-4 is a professional phantom power adapter designed to provide stable, filtered 48-volt phantom power to condenser microphones from an external power source, such as a battery pack or DC supply. This accessory is particularly valuable in field recording, ENG (Electronic News Gathering), and portable studio setups where a mixing console or preamplifier with built-in phantom power is unavailable or impractical. The unit accepts a wide range of input voltages via a standard DC jack and converts it to a precise and clean 48V DC output, which is delivered to the microphone through a standard 3-pin XLR female connector. Its compact and rugged metal housing is built to withstand the rigors of location work, and it often includes features like a power indicator LED and an on/off switch for control.

A key function of the MZA900 P-4 is to act as an intermediary power supply, enabling the use of high-quality phantom-powered microphones with portable recorders, cameras that lack sufficient power, or in standalone applications. By providing dedicated, regulated power, it ensures that the microphone operates at its optimal performance level, with full headroom and low noise. The adapter's circuitry is designed to minimize ripple and electrical noise that could be introduced from the external battery, preserving the integrity of the microphone's signal. This makes it an essential tool for sound recordists who need to deploy condenser microphones in remote locations, on drones, or on camera hot shoes where traditional AC-powered phantom power sources are not accessible.

For audio professionals, the Sennheiser MZA900 P-4 is a problem-solving device that extends the versatility and utility of their microphone inventory. It allows them to leverage the superior performance of studio-grade condenser microphones in any recording scenario, independent of fixed infrastructure. Whether powering a shotgun microphone on a boom pole in the field or a pair of small-diaphragm condensers for ambient recording, this phantom power adapter provides a reliable and clean power source, ensuring that the captured audio maintains the highest possible quality from the source.
