Clear-Com CCT-RT Tempest2400 2.4 GHz Remote Transceiver

$0.00

The Tempest Remote Transceiver is an optional accessory that allows antennas to be located up to 1,500 feet away from the Tempest2400 BaseStation without the RF signal loss that is associated with using long runs of coaxial cable.

The Tempest Remote Transceiver connects to the rear of the BaseStation with standard CAT-5 wiring with RJ-45 connectors. Note that there are two RJ-45 connectors on the back of the BaseStation and they are not interchangeable. The second RJ-45 is for a LAN connection.

The Transceiver antenna connectors are made to be water resistant, so outdoor use is acceptable. The cable connections on the bottom of the transceiver are not water tight, so always protect from immersion. In severely blowing rain, it may be prudent to protect with an RF transparent cover.

Comes with15 ft (4.5 m) CAT-5 cable and two whip antennas.

Please Note! This item is just one component of a larger system. Please refer to the diagram for ideas and recommendations for your Clear-Com intercom system. Diagram shown is a recommendation for a small video production studio in a school.

About the Clear-Com CCT-RT Tempest2400 2.4 GHz Remote Transceiver

The Clear-Com Tempest2400 2.4 GHz Remote Transceiver is a key component of the Tempest wireless intercom system, designed to significantly extend the operational range and enhance signal coverage in complex environments. This device functions as a remote antenna unit that connects to the main Tempest Base Station via a standard Cat-5e or Cat-6 Ethernet cable, leveraging Power over Ethernet (PoE) for both data and power. By strategically placing these transceivers around a venue—such as in a large theater, across a broadcast studio, or throughout a stadium—system designers can create a robust and seamless wireless network that eliminates dead zones and ensures consistent, high-quality audio communication for all wireless users.

The transceiver operates in the globally available 2.4 GHz frequency band and uses Clear-Com's robust digital modulation to provide clear, full-duplex audio with minimal latency. Its compact and discreet form factor allows for easy mounting on walls, ceilings, or trusses. Each unit effectively acts as an access point, communicating with Tempest wireless beltpacks and headsets within its coverage area and relaying signals back to the central base station. This distributed antenna system (DAS) approach is critical for maintaining a strong, reliable RF link in environments with physical obstructions, long distances, or high levels of RF interference from other wireless equipment.

Integration and setup are managed through the Tempest system's configuration software, which allows administrators to monitor the status of each remote transceiver, optimize channel assignments, and ensure efficient roaming for users moving between coverage zones. The use of standard Ethernet cabling for connectivity greatly simplifies installation compared to running coaxial cable, reducing both time and cost. For productions demanding reliable wireless intercom across a large or challenging area, the Tempest2400 Remote Transceiver is an essential tool for building a scalable, professional-grade wireless network that delivers the freedom of mobility without compromising on audio clarity or system reliability.
