Sennheiser AB4-GW Inline Antenna Booster (558 to 626 MHz)

$0.00 -

The AB 4-GW Antenna Booster from Sennheiser is an updated version of the AB 3 antenna booster. It is designed to accommodate the wider switching bandwidth of the evolution wireless G4 system. The AB 4 is a filtered, inline antenna booster module with BNC connectors that offers +10 dB of boost to compensate for signal loss created by long antenna cable runs. It is fully compatible with legacy G3 evolution wireless systems and supports tuning bandwidths up to 88 MHz now offered with the ew 300 G4 and ew 500 G4.

About the Sennheiser AB4-GW Inline Antenna Booster (558 to 626 MHz)

The Sennheiser AB4-GW is a professional active inline antenna booster designed to enhance the RF performance and reliability of Sennheiser wireless microphone and monitoring systems operating within the 558 to 626 MHz frequency range (GW band). This device addresses a common challenge in large-scale wireless deployments: signal degradation that occurs over long coaxial cable runs between remote antennas and receivers, or in installations where the received signal is weak due to distance or physical obstructions. By amplifying the RF signal from the antennas before it travels down the cable to the receiver, the booster effectively extends the operational range of the wireless system, improves the signal-to-noise ratio, and helps maintain a stable, dropout-free audio link in challenging environments such as large concert venues, theaters, and broadcast facilities.

The unit is engineered as a transparent, bidirectional amplifier installed directly into the antenna coaxial line. It is typically positioned closer to the antennas to amplify the weak incoming signal before significant losses accumulate in the long cable, compensating for the inherent attenuation of UHF signals in coaxial cabling. This active design ensures the receiver receives the strongest possible signal for optimal performance. The booster is powered conveniently via the coaxial cable itself using Power over Cable (PoC) technology, receiving the necessary DC voltage from a compatible receiver or a separate power inserter, which greatly simplifies installation by eliminating the need for a separate power supply at the often-inaccessible antenna location.

Constructed in a robust, compact metal housing, the AB4-GW is built for reliability in both fixed installations and touring racks. Its plug-and-play operation requires no user configuration, making it a practical tool for system engineers seeking to optimize RF performance without complexity. By ensuring optimal signal strength at the receiver input, this antenna booster is a critical accessory for maximizing the potential of professional wireless systems, providing greater flexibility in antenna placement, improving overall system resilience and range, and enabling reliable wireless audio coverage in large or architecturally challenging environments.
