Sennheiser AB400 - Antenna Booster w/ Multiple Frequency Ranges

$0.00

The AB 4-AW+ Antenna Booster from Sennheiser is an updated version of the AB 3 antenna booster. It is designed to accommodate the wider switching bandwidth of the evolution wireless G4 system. The AB 4 is a filtered, inline antenna booster module with BNC connectors that offers +10 dB of boost to compensate for signal loss created by long antenna cable runs. It is fully compatible with legacy G3 evolution wireless systems and supports tuning bandwidths up to 88 MHz now offered with the ew 300 G4 and ew 500 G4.

About the Sennheiser AB400 - Antenna Booster w/ Multiple Frequency Ranges

The Sennheiser AB400 is a professional active antenna booster designed to enhance the performance and reliability of wireless microphone and monitoring systems across multiple UHF frequency bands. This versatile device addresses the common challenge of signal degradation over long coaxial cable runs or in installations where the received RF signal is weak. By amplifying the RF signal from the antennas before it travels to the receivers, the booster effectively extends the system's operational range, improves signal-to-noise ratio, and helps maintain a stable, dropout-free audio link. Its ability to operate across several frequency bands (often selectable via a switch or jumper) makes it a flexible tool for system engineers managing wireless systems that operate in different spectral regions or for international tours where frequency allocations vary.

The AB400 is engineered as a transparent, bidirectional amplifier installed in-line on the antenna coaxial cable. It is typically positioned closer to the antennas to amplify the weak incoming signal before losses accumulate in long cables. This active design compensates for cable attenuation, which can be significant at UHF frequencies. The booster is powered via the coaxial cable itself using Power over Cable (PoC) technology, receiving the necessary DC voltage (typically 12V) from a compatible receiver or a separate power inserter. This eliminates the need for a separate power supply at the often-inaccessible antenna location, simplifying installation.

Constructed in a robust, compact metal housing, the AB400 is built for reliability in both fixed installations and touring racks. Its plug-and-play operation requires minimal configuration, with band selection being the primary setup step. By ensuring optimal signal strength at the receiver input, this multi-band antenna booster is a critical accessory for maximizing the performance of professional wireless systems. It provides greater flexibility in antenna placement, improves overall system resilience and range, and is an essential component for system engineers building reliable wireless audio infrastructure in large or challenging venues.
