The Sennheiser XSW-D XLR BASE SET is a professional digital wireless plug-on transmitter system operating in the global 2.4 GHz ISM band, designed to convert any standard wired microphone with an XLR output into a high-quality digital wireless source. This set includes a compact plug-on transmitter and a matching portable receiver, but is supplied without a microphone, offering maximum flexibility for audio engineers, videographers, and broadcasters to use their preferred wired microphones—such as shotguns, lavaliers, or handheld dynamics—in a wireless configuration. The system leverages 24-bit/48 kHz digital audio transmission with 128-bit AES encryption, ensuring broadcast-quality sound and secure, interference-resistant operation ideal for film production, ENG (Electronic News Gathering), stage presentations, and location recording where cable runs are impractical.

The plug-on transmitter features a robust metal housing with a locking male XLR connector that attaches directly to the microphone, drawing phantom power (12-48V) or operating from the microphone's output signal as required. It incorporates a high-resolution OLED display for monitoring gain, battery level, frequency, and audio peaks, alongside physical controls for power, pairing, and gain adjustment (-30 dB to +6 dB). The transmitter is powered by a single AA battery, providing extended operational life, and utilizes advanced adaptive frequency hopping spread spectrum technology. This technology automatically scans the 2.4 GHz band and selects the clearest of four preset channels, dynamically avoiding interference from Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other wireless devices to maintain a stable, low-latency audio link.

The companion receiver is an ultra-compact unit designed for mounting on a camera hot shoe or attaching to a belt, featuring a 3.5 mm TRS output for direct connection to a camera, recorder, or mixer. It also includes a full-size female XLR output with a built-in preamplifier, providing both mic and line-level signals for professional audio interfaces. The receiver can be powered by two AA batteries or via USB-C, offering versatile powering options for field use. With an operating range of up to 100 meters line-of-sight and an end-to-end latency of less than 19 milliseconds, the XSW-D XLR BASE SET delivers a reliable, high-fidelity wireless solution that preserves the sonic character of any connected microphone while providing the freedom and convenience of wireless operation in dynamic production environments.
