About the Shure UA844SWB Antenna Distribution System
The Shure UA844SWB is an active antenna distribution system designed to support large-scale wireless microphone and in-ear monitor setups by efficiently distributing amplified RF signals from one or two master antennas to up to four wireless receivers. Its wideband design covers a broad UHF spectrum, making it versatile for use with various frequency bands without retuning. The system's primary function is to eliminate the signal loss that occurs when multiple receivers are connected to a single antenna via passive splitters, ensuring each receiver gets a strong, clean, and isolated RF signal. This is critical for maintaining system reliability and maximizing range in professional touring, broadcast, and installed sound applications.
The unit features two independent, ultra-low-noise amplifier channels (for true diversity setups), each with its own gain control and LED level metering. This allows technicians to optimize the incoming signal from remote antennas and prevent over-amplification. The rear panel provides antenna inputs and four sets of BNC output pairs, with DC pass-through on each output to remotely power compatible active antennas, such as the Shure PA805, simplifying system cabling. The robust metal chassis is built for rack mounting and designed to withstand the physical demands of road use.
For RF coordinators, the UA844SWB is a key component in building scalable and interference-resistant wireless networks. It reduces the number of remote antennas needed, minimizes cable runs, and ensures every receiver in a rack receives an optimal signal for true diversity operation. This results in greater overall system stability, improved audio clarity, and the ability to support more wireless channels reliably in complex RF environments.
