Yamaha 1608-D Rio Series 16-Input/8-Output Dante Stage Box

$0.00 -

The complexity and variety of today’s live sound systems makes fast, adaptable configuration and setup capability vital. Of course the highest level of sonic performance must be maintained at the same time. CL series consoles use the Dante network protocol developed by Audinate to allow flexible connection to multiple I/O rack units configured and located according to the needs of the application, while at the same time providing redundancy for superior reliability. Dante directly supports star network configurations, so up to eight I/O rack units can be connected to any single CL series console and conveniently located wherever they are needed most. A few simple DIP switch settings are all that is required to change to daisy-chain networking as required.

About the Yamaha 1608-D Rio Series 16-Input/8-Output Dante Stage Box

The Yamaha 1608-D is a member of the R (Rio) Series of Dante-networked audio stage boxes, designed to provide high-quality, flexible remote input/output (I/O) for Yamaha's CL, QL, and Rivage series digital mixing consoles, as well as any other Dante-enabled audio system. This compact, rugged unit serves as a critical interface between analog audio sources—such as microphones, instruments, and line-level signals—and a digital audio network, effectively extending the console's I/O capacity to the stage or any remote location. It houses 16 premium microphone preamps on Neutrik XLR/TRS combo inputs, along with 8 balanced analog XLR outputs, all accessible over a single Ethernet cable carrying power, audio, and control data via the Dante protocol.

A key feature of the Rio series is the inclusion of Yamaha's renowned headroom-rich, low-noise preamplifiers, which deliver transparent audio quality suitable for the most demanding professional applications. The 1608-D integrates seamlessly into Dante networks, appearing as a standard Dante device that can be easily routed to and from any other Dante endpoint, such as a console, recorder, or processor. It supports primary and secondary Dante ports for network redundancy, ensuring audio continuity in mission-critical live events. The unit is also powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE+), significantly simplifying installation by eliminating the need for a separate AC power cable at the stage box location.

Built for the rigors of touring and fixed installation, the 1608-D features a robust steel chassis, a clear metering display for input and output levels, and redundant power supply options. Its compact form factor makes it easy to mount on a microphone stand, place on a stage, or install in a rack. By providing remote, network-based I/O with studio-grade preamps, the Yamaha 1608-D dramatically reduces analog cable runs, increases system flexibility, and forms the foundation of a scalable, future-proof audio infrastructure for live sound, broadcasting, and installed sound applications.
