Galaxy Audio HS7 Hot Spot Passive Compact Stage Monitor

$79.00 - $114.99

The HS7 is a compact and lightweight personal stage monitor speaker, part of the legendary "Hot Spot" series that has been popular since the 1970s. Its core design philosophy is to place the monitor closer to the performer, which helps to reduce overall stage volume and minimize feedback issues. The speaker uses two 5-inch NEOLITE neodymium drivers, which are ferrofluid cooled and specifically tailored for a mid-to-high frequency response, which Galaxy Audio calls "controlled bandwidth". The enclosure is made from durable, high-impact ABS plastic and features a wedge shape for versatile placement options, including on the floor, on a keyboard, or mounted on a microphone stand using the integrated insert and included adapter.

About the Galaxy Audio HS7 Hot Spot Passive Compact Stage Monitor

The Galaxy Audio HS7 Hot Spot is a compact, trapezoidal stage monitor designed to deliver clear, focused audio directly to performers, addressing the common challenge of stage volume and monitoring clarity in live sound environments. As a passive monitor, it requires connection to an external power amplifier, offering sound engineers flexibility in tailoring the amplification chain to specific needs and existing system components. Its distinctive design features a 7-inch woofer paired with a high-frequency compression driver, managed by a built-in passive crossover, to produce a balanced sound that prioritizes vocal and instrument mid-range clarity. The relatively small cabinet size allows it to be positioned strategically on cramped stages without occupying excessive floor space, making it an ideal solution for solo artists, acoustic duos, or as a supplemental personal monitor for drummers and keyboard players.

The enclosure is constructed from durable, void-free plywood, finished with a rugged textured coating that resists scratches, scuffs, and the general wear of frequent transportation and setup. Its trapezoidal shape is not only acoustically beneficial for reducing internal standing waves but also practical, allowing multiple units to be arrayed together or angled effectively to direct sound precisely into the performer's ears. The angled front baffle is a critical design element, projecting the sound upward towards the artist rather than dispersing it across the stage, which enhances gain-before-feedback and allows performers to hear themselves clearly at lower overall volumes. This focused dispersion minimizes stage bleed into the audience microphones, contributing to a cleaner front-of-house mix.

Valued for its simplicity and reliability, the HS7 serves as a dependable workhorse in various live settings, from small clubs and houses of worship to corporate events and touring musical theater productions. It provides the essential function of foldback monitoring without the complexity or cost of active internal electronics, relying on the quality of its components and cabinet design to deliver intelligible sound. By offering a dedicated, localized source of audio reference, it empowers performers to deliver confident and pitch-accurate performances. The Galaxy Audio HS7 Hot Spot exemplifies the principle that effective stage monitoring does not require excessive size or power, but rather thoughtful engineering that places clear, direct sound exactly where it is needed most.
