The Niles OS-1 is an older model speaker in the highly successful Niles OS series of indoor/outdoor loudspeakers. It is designed with a durable, weather-resistant construction that exceeds U.S. military anti-corrosion specifications, making it immune to damage from temperature extremes ranging from -50° to over 200° Fahrenheit. A key design feature is its integrated woofer/baffle assembly, which increases the woofer's cone area relative to the cabinet width. This innovative design allows the 5-1/4" mica-filled polypropylene woofer to produce deep, powerful bass comparable to that of a larger cone speaker. The speaker also features an "Elastodynamic" natural fiber dome tweeter with a thin elastomeric coating to prevent harsh "tweeter ringing," ensuring clear, natural-sounding high frequencies.The cabinet is wedge-shaped to fit neatly into corners or under eaves, a placement method that further enhances bass output. It can be mounted horizontally or vertically using the supplied bracket and can be painted to match its surroundings.
