The Crown PIP2-FXQ is a passive Programmable Input Processor module serving as the standard factory-installed input interface for Crown Macro-Tech and CTs series professional power amplifiers. This straightforward module provides essential input connectivity and signal management capabilities, featuring both balanced three-pin female XLR connectors and balanced 1/4-inch TRS phone jack connectors for each channel to accommodate a wide range of professional audio sources. As a passive device with no active circuitry, the module requires no external power and maintains complete signal transparency while adding no electronic noise or distortion to the audio path.

The module's passive design offers significant installation flexibility. The XLR and phone jack inputs are wired in parallel for each channel, meaning the unused connector can be used as a daisy-chain output to connect the same signal to multiple amplifiers in larger system installations. The PIP2-FXQ also incorporates an input ground lift switch that isolates input signal grounds from chassis ground, effectively eliminating ground loops that cause unwanted hum and noise in professional audio systems.

All inputs on the PIP2-FXQ are balanced with a minimum impedance of 10 kilohms (5 kilohms with unbalanced wiring) and accept standard line-level output from most professional audio devices. The module accepts three-pin male XLR connectors and TRS phone connectors, with recommended wiring using balanced line (two-conductor plus shield), 22-24 gauge cables. As the foundation of Crown's PIP architecture, the FXQ module enables amplifiers to be customized for specific applications while retaining the ability to upgrade to advanced PIP2 modules with network control and digital signal processing capabilities when system requirements evolve. Note that the Channel 2 input should not be used when the amplifier is configured in Bridge-Mono or Parallel-Mono mode.
