What's the difference between a shock-mounted rack case and a standard rack case?

Shock-mounted rack cases suspend the internal rack frame on rubber or spring isolators, protecting sensitive production equipment from vibration and impact during transport. Standard rack cases hold gear securely but don't offer the same level of isolation. Shock absorption mounts are worth it for fragile electronics like amps, wireless receivers, and anything with moving parts or sensitive contact points.

How do I know what size case I need?

Rack cases are measured in rack units (RU or U) - each unit is 1.75 inches of vertical space. A 4U case holds four rack units of gear. For non-rack equipment, measure the length, width, and height of your item and compare to the case's interior dimensions. Leave room for extra foam padding or dividers if you need custom protection, and make sure loose parts like cables and accessories have a place so they don't shift during transport.

Do your cases come with foam inserts?

Some cases include foam, dividers, or custom cutouts; others are sold empty. Each listing specifies what's included. If you need foam or custom inserts, our team can help you find options.

What condition are used road cases in?

Road cases are designed to show wear on the outside so your gear doesn't. A used case may have scratches, scuffs, and cosmetic dents, but still function perfectly. We provide clear condition ratings on each case so you know what to expect. If a case has damaged latches, broken wheels, steel handles, or structural issues, we note that in the listing, and the price will reflect it.
