A gooseneck microphone consists of a miniature microphone capsule mounted on a flexible metal gooseneck shaft. The shaft bends and holds its position, allowing precise adjustment for different speaker heights and angles. Most gooseneck mics mount into a base on a lectern, podium, or conference table, though desktop and floor microphone stand options are also available.

Gooseneck microphones are designed primarily for speech applications. Their directional pickup patterns focus on the speaker while rejecting ambient noise and feedback. What polar pattern is best for gooseneck microphones?
