It is available in two distinct variations to suit different network routing needs: the Cata-Lynx I/P, which acts as a two-universe DMX512 to Art-Net Ethernet converter, and the Cata-Lynx O/P, which translates Art-Net data back into two universes of DMX512 with full RDM (Remote Device Management) functionality. By offering reliable, high-speed protocol translation, the Cata-Lynx series is highly favored for controlling Art-Net compliant media servers—such as High End Systems Catalyst and Green Hippo Hippotizer—as well as integrating smoothly with advanced visualization software.

Built for the rigors of live touring and permanent studio installations, the Cata-Lynx units are housed in a sturdy chassis that fits seamlessly into standard dimmer racks]. For maximum convenience and accessibility, all critical data cable entries—including the 5-pin XLR connectors and a secure, latching Ethercon network port—are purposefully positioned directly on the front panel. Users can easily configure their network routing manually using three front-panel hexadecimal switches to set Sub-Net and Universe selection. Alternatively, the system can be configured remotely over the network using Artistic Licence's free DMX-Workshop software or the unit's internal web server, making it an exceptionally adaptable tool for complex lighting networks.
