The NE4800S, part of Ashly's Protea™ NE series, is built around a powerful 32-bit floating-point SHARC DSP engine. The "S" designation specifies the factory-installed 8-channel AES3 (AES/EBU) digital output card, which provides eight channels of digital audio output via male XLR connectors. This complements the unit's four standard balanced analog line-level inputs and eight analog line-level outputs, which use Euroblock connectors. All programming and control are handled remotely via Ethernet or RS-232 using the intuitive Protea NE Software, allowing for easy setup and a tamper-proof audio system with no front-panel controls. For digital audio synchronization, word clock input and output BNC connections are also provided.
