BirdDog FLEX 4K NDI IN Encoder in Original Box

The BirdDog FLEX 4K IN is a compact professional NDI encoder designed to convert HDMI video sources into IP-based NDI video streams for broadcast, live production, streaming, and AV-over-IP workflows. The unit accepts video through an HDMI 2.0 input and supports full-bandwidth NDI High Bandwidth (i-frame compression), allowing compatible video sources to be transported over a standard Gigabit Ethernet network. The FLEX 4K IN supports UHD 2160p at 25, 29.97, and 30 fps, as well as a wide range of HD formats including 1080p up to 60 fps, 1080i, and 720p.

The encoder incorporates an RJ45 1000BASE-T Ethernet port with integrated PoE+ support, allowing power and network connectivity to be delivered through a single Ethernet cable when used with compatible equipment. It also provides a 3.5 mm microphone/line input and supports 2-channel, 48 kHz HDMI audio. For camera-control applications, the FLEX 4K IN includes a 2.5 mm 4-pole RS-232 interface supporting VISCA, while its integrated tricolor halo tally provides visible production-status indication. An embedded web configuration panel allows the device to be configured over the network.

The FLEX 4K IN has a highly compact chassis measuring 107 x 63 x 31 mm (4.21 x 2.48 x 1.22 in) and weighs approximately 140 g (4.94 oz). Power can be supplied through PoE+ 802.3at or a 12 V DC input, with BirdDog specifying a maximum DC power requirement of 30 W. The unit is designed to simplify the integration of HDMI cameras and video sources into NDI-based production systems without requiring a larger rack-mounted encoder.
