Black Box Emerald PE DisplayPort Single-Head Transmitter

The Black Box Emerald PE DisplayPort Single-Head Transmitter (EMD2000PE-DP-T) is a professional KVM-over-IP transmitter designed to transport high-quality DisplayPort video, USB, audio, and serial signals over a standard IP network. It is part of the Black Box Emerald platform and is intended for control rooms, broadcast facilities, post-production environments, industrial applications, and other professional KVM installations. The single-head configuration supports one DisplayPort source with video resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz, allowing a computer or workstation to be accessed remotely through a compatible Emerald receiver or managed Emerald infrastructure. Black Box positions Emerald as a standards-based IP KVM platform that can operate over conventional Ethernet networks.

The EMD2000PE-DP-T provides one DisplayPort input, one USB 2.0 Type-B connection for keyboard and mouse data, one RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet port, a 3.5 mm analog audio connection, and an additional RJ-45 serial interface for RS-232 connectivity. Network transmission can operate over standard CAT5, CAT5e, CAT6, or CAT7 cabling, with a documented maximum transmission distance of approximately 328 feet (100 meters) for the Ethernet connection. The unit is designed to deliver visually lossless HD video while extending computer peripherals and other signals through an IP-based KVM environment.

The transmitter has a compact chassis measuring approximately 6.1 x 5.4 x 1.3 inches (154 x 137 x 34 mm) and weighs approximately 11.7 ounces (331 g). Black Box specifies 5 VDC, 4A power for the single-head DisplayPort transmitter. The unit supports 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet, with link-speed and activity indicators providing network-status information.
