The Blackmagic Design Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 is an ultra-compact, professional-grade broadcast camera designed for unobtrusive installation and versatile mounting in live production environments. As a second-generation model, it builds upon its predecessor with an upgraded 4K sensor offering wider dynamic range and improved low-light performance, while retaining the extremely small form factor that makes it ideal for mounting on drones, jibs, robotics, or in tight spaces where a traditional camera would be impractical. Despite its size, it delivers a full broadcast-quality 4K signal and connects via a single coaxial cable using the Blackmagic Studio Converter or directly to an ATEM switcher with a SDI output model.

A key feature of the Micro Studio Camera is its lack of a built-in monitor or viewfinder; it is designed to be remotely controlled and monitored via its SDI output, which carries video, power, camera control data, tally, and intercom. This makes it a pure "camera head" that relies on the broader production system. The G2 model includes a MFT (Micro Four Thirds) lens mount, providing access to a vast range of affordable and high-quality cinema lenses, and supports remote lens control for compatible optics. It also includes a built-in microphone and a 3.5mm audio input for attaching an external mic.

Housed in a tiny, rugged metal enclosure, the camera is built for durability in challenging environments. It includes multiple 1/4-20 mounting points on all sides for flexible rigging. When paired with the larger Blackmagic ecosystem—particularly ATEM switchers and the Blackmagic Camera Utility software—it becomes a powerful, remotely configurable node in a multi-camera production setup, perfect for live events, sports, broadcast studios, and innovative cinematic applications where camera size is a critical constraint.
