About the Blizzard VX400 4 Ethernet Port Video Controller with Fiber Converter

The Blizzard VX400 is an advanced, rack-mountable control and distribution unit designed for managing large-scale pixel-mapped LED video displays and lighting systems. It functions as a central hub, featuring four Gigabit Ethernet ports to output Art-Net, sACN, or other DMX-over-Ethernet protocols, distributing control data to a multitude of LED fixtures or receiver cards across a network. A key feature of the VX400 is its built-in fiber optic converter, which allows it to transmit control data over long distances via fiber optic cable, overcoming the 100-meter distance limitation of standard copper Ethernet cabling and providing superior noise immunity in electrically noisy environments.

The controller is designed to process and translate video or lighting control data from various sources. It can accept video inputs, such as DVI or HDMI, and convert the imagery into pixel data streams that are mapped onto connected LED tiles or strips. Alternatively, it can receive standard lighting control protocols from a console and distribute them via its network ports. This versatility makes it suitable for complex installations in touring rigs, permanent architectural facades, and stage backdrops where synchronized video and lighting effects are required. Configuration and control are typically managed through dedicated software, allowing for precise mapping and system diagnostics.

By combining multiple Ethernet outputs with fiber optic conversion in a single 1U rack unit, the VX400 simplifies system design and improves reliability. It reduces the need for multiple separate switches and media converters, leading to a cleaner, more efficient signal path. For system integrators and video designers, the Blizzard VX400 provides a powerful, scalable, and robust solution for driving the next generation of LED-based visual experiences, ensuring flawless synchronization and control over vast arrays of pixels.
