The BSS Audio Soundweb 9008iis is a dedicated output expansion device within the Soundweb digital audio networking ecosystem. It shares the exact networking and DSP processing capabilities as the standard 9088iis processor, but with a critical difference: it has no analogue inputs, only 8 analogue outputs. This makes the 9008iis a highly cost-effective way of designing systems that require many more outputs than inputs, such as distributed speaker systems in large venues, performing arts centers, and houses of worship.

In a typical Soundweb configuration, the 9088iis provides the core input and processing functionality, while one or more 9008iis units are added to expand the output capacity. The unit's real-world reliability has been proven through its deployment in demanding, mission-critical environments. Large cathedrals and performing arts centers utilize 9008iis devices for signal processing across their multiple performance venues and audio zones.

The 9008iis provides a comprehensive set of integration features. Control inputs allow connection of standard potentiometers, switches, or control voltages for preset recall and parameter adjustment, while logic outputs facilitate interface with external switching systems. A 12-pin Phoenix connector houses these control I/O ports. Two RS-232 serial ports are provided: a mini-DIN on the front panel for PC setup via Soundweb Designer software, and a 9-pin D-Sub on the rear for external control systems such as AMX or Crestron. The unit also includes Phoenix style screw-terminal connectors with mating plugs supplied for outputs.
