About the Canare 12G-SDI-020 12G-SDI 4K/UHD Low Loss Digital Video Coaxial Cable

The Canare 12G-SDI-020 12G-SDI 4K/UHD Low Loss Digital Video Coaxial Cable is a 20-foot pre-terminated 75-ohm digital video cable designed for 12G-SDI and 4K/UHD video transmission. Canare specifies its 12G-SDI cable assemblies for professional broadcast and video applications where high-bandwidth, low-loss signal transmission is required.

The cable construction uses Canare's low-loss coaxial technology with copper foil and high-density tinned-copper braided shielding, together with highly foamed multi-layer polyethylene insulation. Canare specifically identifies its Ultra Coax family as being designed for 12G-SDI transmission.

For 12G-SDI, Canare specifies a 75-ohm characteristic impedance and identifies the 12G-SDI standard as an 11.88 Gb/s signal format. The published SMPTE-based transmission figures depend on the specific cable construction and receiving equipment, so I have not substituted a generic maximum distance for this 20-foot assembly.
