The Canon HR-86S (frequently referred to as the 86S) is a robust, professional-grade lens hood engineered specifically for Canon ENG (Electronic News Gathering) and EFP broadcast video lenses. Designed to meet the rigorous physical and optical demands of on-location television production, this oversized hood actively blocks unwanted stray light from striking the front lens element. By effectively shading the optics, it eliminates contrast-reducing lens flare and ghosting, ensuring that camera operators capture crisp, artifact-free, broadcast-ready footage even when shooting in harsh sunlight or under unpredictable stadium lighting.

Constructed for rapid deployment in fast-paced run-and-gun environments, the HR-86S utilizes a secure 86mm rear friction clamp that slips directly over the outer barrel of compatible broadcast lenses. Beyond its fundamental shading capabilities, the hood features a built-in 105mm front internal thread, allowing users to mount large-diameter optical filters directly into the housing. To seamlessly accommodate professional workflows, the hood integrates a convenient physical access slider on its frame, enabling operators to easily reach in and rotate a circular polarizing filter without having to remove the entire hood assembly from the rig.
